After AIM: AIM Advantage

Class of 25 graduation banner

At AIM, we set our sights on a higher bar: not just college acceptance, but college completion.

For students who learn differently, the national four-year college completion rate remains alarmingly low - just 34% graduate within eight years. [1] College demands strong executive function, self-advocacy, and disciplined study habits. Without these skills firmly in place, students can easily be overwhelmed by larger classes, increased academic rigor, and the independence of campus life.

The first semester is a pivotal inflection point. It is when habits are either formed or fractured. As coursework intensifies each year, students who begin with strong systems for organization, advocacy, and study are far more likely to persist and thrive.

Confident college students know how to manage their time, anticipate deadlines, and approach assignments strategically. They advocate effectively by meeting with professors, tutors, and disability coordinators. They study with intention, previewing and reviewing material to deepen comprehension. They maintain strong GPAs while engaging in clubs, athletics, internships, and leadership opportunities.

The AIM Advantage program extends AIM’s research-based model beyond high school graduation. Each AIM graduate is paired with a dedicated college coach who meets weekly with the student online. Together, they strengthen organization systems, refine study strategies, and ensure students are maximizing disability services and campus resources.

Building upon the evidence-based techniques developed at AIM Academy, coaching empowers students to take ownership of their education. Students approach every class with a plan, follow through consistently, and internalize habits that support long-term independence.

The results speak clearly. One hundred percent of AIM Advantage students returned for their second semester of college. In subsequent semesters, most participants have seen their GPAs rise, demonstrating that when the right supports are in place, confidence grows and outcomes follow.
