Middle School

Grades 6-8

Middle school is a dynamic time for children. The growth and development that happens during this period in life are important when considering how we approach our instruction and learning goals for every child.

Our focus on research-based practices allows our students to understand their true potential as learners and celebrate their differences while developing their critical thinking skills and independence.

Supporting the Whole Child

AIM’s Middle School vision is centered around supporting the whole child and helping every child develop an understanding of their learning needs.

Intentional Programming

Integrated within a rigorous curriculum, our programming has been developed to nurture the emotional, social, and intellectual needs of our students.

Ready for What's Next

It is our hope that our middle schoolers leave 8th grade with a strong sense of who they are, how they learn, and what they need in order to be successful.

The Road to Independence

Becoming an independent learner is the key objective of the Middle School. Students are given the tools necessary to help them organize and manage their workload with the scaffolding of teacher and peer models.

An interdisciplinary curriculum challenges critical thinking skills, and students learn how to identify connections between ideas and how one area of study can inform or influence another. Middle School classrooms are small by design to allow for differentiation of instruction alongside collaborative project-based learning.

Middle School Curriculum

AIM’s Middle School curriculum is built around four core academic classes and thoughtfully tailored to each student — strengthening reading, writing, problem-solving, and confident classroom discussion. Students also explore their interests through rotating Creative Core electives and stay active through Physical Education. Beyond the classroom, learning comes alive through community engagement like clubs, performances, field trips, and meaningful student leadership opportunities.

Middle School STEAM at AIM brings ideas to life through hands-on design, building, and problem-solving. Explore how students begin tackling real-world challenges through creativity, collaboration, and innovation.

Explore Innovation in the Middle School

“I’ve been part of AIM’s Middle School for over fifteen years as a classroom teacher, an instructional leader, and now as Head of Middle School. What continues to stand out to me is how our program helps students find success in their learning. Our teachers understand language-based learning differences and know how to individualize instruction so students can access learning and build confidence. It’s extraordinary to see how our students grow when teaching is truly designed for how they learn.”
