Support Services

The AIM Edge

Unlike many schools specializing in students with language-based learning disabilities AIM Academy’s staff includes Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Pathologists to support students, teachers and families.

This is an added convenience for our parents and a striking advantage for our students. Our professionals have the ability to interact with students before, during or after the school day. In addition, they share their expertise with teachers and parents, providing the optimal academic experience for each child.

Families whose students meet with Speech and Language Pathologists or Occupational Therapists are charged an additional fee for these services.

Tutoring services are also available both before and after school, for a fee.

2nd Grader

Research shows that when students have been diagnosed with a language-based learning difference, speech and language services can make a profound impact on improving reading comprehension and writing skills, thus advancing their readiness for the rigors of college.

Occupational Therapy

Some people think that Occupational Therapy is simply directed at improving handwriting skills, but at AIM that is only the tip of the iceberg.

Occupational Therapists assist our students in a variety of skills areas such as attention, visual perceptual abilities, and organization. In addition, our Occupational Therapists work directly with teachers to implement appropriate classroom accommodations to help a child succeed.

Speech and Language Therapy

The key components of helping our students become fluent and strategic readers can be outlined into two main areas: word recognition and language comprehension. We do not always associate language development with reading but it is one of the two critical factors.

We have 7 therapists that see students in grades 1-12, who are all experts in language-based learning differences and literacy-building strategies to support students with a variety of difficulties.

Additional Support

Strong time-management and organizational skills are two examples of important executive function skills necessary for success in high school and college.

Occasionally students may benefit from the opportunity to participate in on-site Executive Function Skills Coaching provided by our School Psychologists or Occupational Therapists to improve their level of academic independence.

Our School Psychology Department lends their expertise to the faculty by monitoring each student’s academic progress and leading our Career Academy. These services are all inclusive in our tuition.
